Mr. Curtis Wayne Morris, age 65, of Bolivar, departed this life Friday evening, February 27, 2015 at Regional Hospital of Jackson.
The son of Curtis H. Morris of Bolivar, who survives, and the late Julie O. Morris, who died in 2008, he was a self-employed carpenter and master woodcrafter for over 20 years. He had also worked at Masterslack for a time. He was born July 25, 1949 in Bolivar and lived most of his life here. An 'authority' on The Alamo, he enjoyed educating the public, especially children, on all events concerning The Alamo and spent much time and effort in constructing scenes depicting The Alamo. Music was a big part of his life, performing as lead singer and bass guitar player for several events, and acquiring his love of it from The Beatles, of whom he was a lifelong avid fan. He served his country for 12 years in the National Guard and 3 years in the Army Reserve and was always proud of his service. Mr. Morris was Baptist in belief.
In addition to his father, survivors include a son, Sean Curtis Morris of Antioch, TN; two sisters, Peggy Bashman of Gulfport, MS and Gail Morris of Houston, TX; a brother, Bob Morris of North Venice, FL; and several nieces and nephews. The family requests memorial donations in Mr. Morris' name be made to the American Cancer Society. www.cancer.org/donate
