Cora DeBerry Lake, age 82 of Hickory Valley, passed from this life Wednesday evening, November 19, 2008 at Spring Meadows Healthcare Center in Clarksville, TN.
She was born June 27, 1926 in Hornsby, TN to the late Theodore "Ted" Adolphus and Lavenia Thomas DeBerry. December 29, 1946, she married Jesse R. "Buddy" Lake. He preceded her in death April 26, 1982. She worked as a school teacher for 28 years and owned and operated Lake's Store in Hickory Valley. She had been an Alderperson in Hickory Valley since 1985, was a member of the Hickory Valley Women's Club, the Tennessee Education Association and worshipped at Holmes Memorial Methodist Church in Hickory Valley.
Survivors include three daughters, Anne Elliott of Clarksville, Cathy Black of Jasper, and Tammy Lee of Madisonville; a son, Barry Lake of Hickory Valley; four brothers, Gordon W. DeBerry of Bolivar, Bobby DeBerry of Hornsby, David T. DeBerry of Germantown and Russell DeBerry of Hornsby; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, George D. DeBerry and T. A. DeBerry, Jr.
