Cora Marie Gray Hurst, 81, of Bolivar, died Saturday morning, August 19, 2006 in Memphis.
The widow of William E. Hurst, who died in 2003, she was a homemaker. The daughter of Odell O. and Myrtle Williamson Evans, she was a member of Old Union Baptist Church and had played piano for Bolivar Church of God and all over West Tennessee. She loved to cook, garden, loved her children and grandchildren, loved to sing gospel music and travel and made stuffed bird dog pictures. She lived in Shelby County over 40 years and in Hardeman County 14 years.
Survivors include five daughters, Kay Rish of Byhalia, MS, Brenda Blackard of Middleton, Becky Sawyer of Cordova and Terry Cole and Vicky Jones, both of Memphis; three sons, Jerry, Kenneth and Jeff Gray, all of Memphis; one brother, Dick Evans of Cullman, AL; 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren. In addition to her second husband, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Gray, who died in 1991; two sons, Joe and Ricky Gray and one granddaughter, Shannon Rish.
