Clifford Wayne Tarpley

November 10, 1919 — March 23, 2006

Mr. Tarpley was born and reared in Chester County, the Sand Hill Community, the son of the late Claude and Ida Mae Tedford Tarpley. He graduated from Chester County High and attended college. He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946, and served in artillery units in both France and Germany.



He was married to Wanna Mae Morris in 1946 and they lived in Chester County where he worked for the Production Credit Association. He had also worked for PCA in McNairy County and retired as a Vice-President from the Jackson PCA office. He was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Jackson.



Mr. Tarpley was the last of twelve children, being preceded in death by all of his brothers and sisters; John Tarpley, George Tarpley, Tom Tarpley, Charles Tarpley, Buck Tarpley, Will Ed Tarpley, Neal Tarpley, Bess Tarpley, Mae Edna Smith, Louise Smith, and Fannie Tarpley.



He is survived by his wife of sixty years Wanna Mae Morris Tarpley and by a sister-in-law Tommye Jean Patterson and husband J. W. of Henderson and a brother-in-law Jimmy Morris and wife Marna of Jackson and their families.
