Clayton D. Ott of Selmer, Tennessee, was born on April 9, 1923, in Caledonia, Mississippi, to Charlie and Katie Duncan Ott. He was a United States Army Staff Sergeant during World War II. He married Mary N. Owens on February 16, 1953. Mr. Ott is a member of Selmer First United Methodist Church. He taught Sunday School for 36 years, served as Church Building Fund Treasurer for 40 years, and served on various Church committees. He was a retired Senior Accountant with Pickwick Electric Cooperative with 36 years service. A member of the American Legion and a former Chairman for the American Cancer Society.Mr. Ott passed from this life on Friday, May 2, 2008, at McNairy Regional Hospital in Selmer at the age of 85 Years, 23 Days.Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Mary N. Ott; daughter, Robbie Volner and husband Karl of Selmer; son, Dale Ott of Jackson, Tennessee; sister, Stella Mae Stanford of Hamilton, Mississippi; three brothers, Charles Ott of Columbus, Mississippi, Albert Ott of Hamilton, Mississippi, Harry Ott of Reform, Alabama.Also survived by two grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
