Clarence B. Goodrum, Sr., 85, of Bolivar, died Wednesday evening, June 21, 2006 at his home.
The husband of Mildred Florence Sanders Goodrum, who survives, he was a farmer and logger. Mr. Goodrum was born May 11, 1921 in McNairy County, son of the late Calvin Luther Goodrum and Mary Rilla Lacefield Goodrum and made his home here in 1945. He loved music and played the guitar, banjo and harmonica and enjoyed hunting birds and coons. Mr. Goodrum attended the Bolivar Church of God for many years.
Services were 2:00 PM Friday, June 23, 2006 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar chapel with Marvin “Chip†Woods officiating. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
In addition to his wife, whom he married February 7, 1942, survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Jewell Goodrum Horner and Jim of Dyersburg, Janet Goodrum Stack and James of Hornsby and Janie Goodrum Overton and Rickey of Bolivar; one son, Clarence B. Goodrum, Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Hornsby; one sister, Sadie Davis of Booneville, Miss.; two brothers, Lonnie Goodrum of Oil City, Penn. and Arnold Goodrum of Selmer; thirteen grandchildren, Larry Horner, Clay and Clint Stack, Brian and April Overton, Amy Cleek, Jeannie, Matt, Justin, Becky and Ben Goodrum, Debbie Young, Crystal Gibson and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and James Goodrum and five sisters, Mary Kirk, Rosie Borden, Annie Rea Cartwright, Bessie Goodrum and Nellie Jernigan.
