Clara Bell Montgomery

Mrs. Clara Bell Skelton Montgomery of Waynesboro departed this life on Friday, January 8, 2016 at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence, Alabama at the age of 83 Years, 10 Months. She was born March 8, 1932 in Wayne County, TN, the daughter of the late Barney and Marie Skelton. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Montgomery was preceded in death by three brothers, Barney Skelton Jr., Paul Roscoe Skelton and Coy Ray Skelton, a sister, Lucile Baker.

She was united in marriage to James Randolph Montgomery on February 2, 1950. Mr. Montgomery preceded her in death on May 11, 2010. She loved life and lived everyday to the very fullest. She was a cancer survivor for 40 years and during that time never gave up. She loved people, gardening, mowing her yard, working in her flowers and vegetable garden. As a homemaker she loved and provided for her family. In the 1070's she worked as a babysitter for children. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. She was a member of Ray's Chapel Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Joyce Burns and husband Troy and Pamela Mae Thompson all of Waynesboro, TN, granddaughter, Amy Lynn Suggs of Chattanooga, TN, step grandsons, Brandon Burns and Jeremy Burns, three sisters, Verna Mae Hunt , Bertha Woods and Ola Hammack all of Waynesboro, TN, and a special godchild, Amanda (Mandy) Rae Peacock of Leoma, TN.

Services will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at 3:30 PM at Shackelford Funeral Home in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Casey Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were Bobby Brown, Brandon Burns, Brian Staggs, Ricky Casteel, Tim Skelton, and Weston Skelton.

Visitation will be on Sunday, January 10, 9:30 am until service time @ Shackelford Funeral Home, Waynesboro, TN
