Mr. Vandiver passed away Monday March 12 at his home in Jackson.
The husband of Brenda Ivy Vandiver, he was a retired Senior Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force, serving 20 years. He was born April 25, 1943, in Hardeman County, the son of Cordes Preston Vandiver and Lucille Rhodes Vandiver. Mr. Vandiver studied data processing at Wilbur Wright College and was the full time pastor with the Pinson Church of God. In addition to being retired from the military, he also was a retired US Postal carrier with the US Postal Service in Henderson.
In addition to his wife, whom he married on May 22, 2004, survivors include four daughters, Caron Scrivener of Naugatuck, CT, Jacqueline Carter of Albuquerque, NM, Nikki Vandiver of Sacramento, CA and Natalie Vandiver of Lexington; two sons, Jerry Paul Vandiver of Jackson and Christopher O'Brien of Sacramento, CA; two step daughters, Karen Purvis of Henderson and April Maroney of Lexington, KY; his mother, Lucille Vandiver of Jackson; a brother, Jerry Vandiver of Jackson; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cordes Preston Vandiver.
