CHARLES STOVALL
Henderson, TN: Robert Charles Stovall age 88 passed away Tuesday morning March 1, 2016 at his home.
He was born November 20, 1927 in Chester County, the son of the late Leonard David and Lizzie Luna Bain Stovall. He attended Chester County Schools and married Clessie Mae Hayes in 1949. He entered the U.S. Army in June of 1951 and served in Korea and the Occupational Army in Japan. He returned to the Glendale Community where he farmed. He also worked as a jailer for the Chester County Sheriff’s Dept. for fourteen years, retiring in February 2004.
He was a founding member of the Glendale Community Center. He served on the Chester County Court as a County Commissioner for twelve years, serving on the budget committee for six years.
He was also a founding member of the Hilltop Volunteer Fire Department.
He was a member of the Holly Springs United Methodist Church.
Mr. Stovall is survived by his wife, Clessie Mae Hayes Stovall of Henderson; a son, Dennis Stovall and wife Nancy of Luray; a daughter, Lorria Ann Ross of Lexington; three grandchildren, Cody Stovall and wife Megan, Taylor Ross and Shiann Ross and one great grandson, Lincoln Robert Stovall.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Dustin Robert Stovall, one brother, William Stovall and one sister, Martha Cupples.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday March 3, 2016 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Bro. Bill Evans officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Holly Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Wednesday.
