Charles Mike Mitchell

Mr. Charles Michael "Mike" Mitchell passed away Monday evening at Bolivar General Hospital at the age of 70 years, 9 months and 3 days.

He was born in Memphis, the son of the late Robert Paul and Bernice Gillahan Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was a lifelong resident of Hardeman County. A 1960 graduate of Bolivar Central High School, he served in the US Navy from 1960-63. On October 16, 1963, he married Ruth A. Hughes and they were married for nearly 50 years.

Mr. Mitchell was a longtime farmer and also worked 15 years for Bolivar Energy Authority. He served Hardeman County as a County Road Supervisor for 15 years and also was a member of the Co-op Board and the Farm Bureau Board. A member of Bolivar First United Methodist Church for nearly 70 years, he served as an at-large member of the Administrative Council there.

He leaves his wife, Ruth A. Mitchell of Bolivar. two sons, Charles Michael Mitchell, Jr. of Nashville and John Mitchell of Bolivar; two brothers, James Moore Mitchell and his wife, Martha, of Bolivar and Bobby Mitchell and his wife, Ann, of Morristown, TN; one granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth Mitchell of Los Angeles, CA and numerous nieces and nephews.
