Mr. Charles Douglas Kennedy, Sr., age 57, of Henderson, departed this life Sunday, September 21, at his home.
The husband of Wanda Rhodes Kennedy, who survives, he worked as a tree trimmer and foreman with the Electric Department. He was born April 22, 1957 in Monroe County, Mississippi, son of the late Luther Pratt Kennedy and Connie Mae Ross Kennedy. He was active with the Henderson City and Chester County Fire Departments and Rescue Squad since 1991 and greatly enjoyed fighting fires and saving lives.
In addition to his wife, whom he married on November 22, 1973, survivors include a daughter, Tiwana Kennedy Hemby of Nashville; three sons and two daughters in law, Charles (Melissa) Kennedy, Jr. of Pennsylvania, William Wayne Kennedy of Shelbyville and David Eugene (Faye) Kennedy of Crossville; two sisters, Anna Strickland of Georgia and Dorothy Barksdale of Mississippi; two brothers, Donald Kennedy of Henderson and Terry Kennedy of Mississippi; 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. The family request memorial donations be made to the Henderson City Fire Department.
