Charles W. Horton

Charles Horton was born on July 26, 1935 in Savannah, Tennessee.
He passed away peacefully in his home on March 10, 2021 at the age of
85 years 8 months 12 days. He was born to John Henry and Dovie Louise
Horton of Savannah, Tennessee.

Charles retired from the U.S. Army after 23 years of service. After retirement he worked for the state managing state and RV Parks around the country. He was a Mason and Shriner for many years.

Charley loved to spend time with his family and friends. He had many good stories to tell. He also loved to fish especially when it included his brothers, grandsons or other family members.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by two daughters, Carol Jane Hargrove and Jacqueline Sue Horton of Ardmore, AL and one son Charles Edward Horton of Williamsburg, VA. Siblings Maxine Newman of Mandeville, LA, Lee Paulk Horton of Savannah, TN, and Joe David Horton Savannah, TN

He is survived by one daughter Jessica Horton Gatewood of Huntsville, AL, grandchildren Jory Jackson, Amanda Patterson, and John Cody Hargrove all of Huntsville, AL great grandchildren Anna Grace Hargrove and James Douglas Hargrove of Huntsville, AL, siblings Jerry Horton of Stantonville, TN, Patricia Martin of Albuquerque, NM, Jeanette Alexander of Savannah, TN, and Johnie Ruth Allen (Glenn Allen) of Savannah, TN, and sister in-law Yvonne Horton of Savannah, TN. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends Larry and Brenda Spears, Dr. Michael Smith and wife Janice all of Savannah, TN
