Charles O. Cox, 78, of Hornsby, died Thursday evening, March 8, 2007 at McNairy Regional Hospital in Selmer.
The husband of Bettye Carlin Cox, who survives, he was a leather grader at the Armira Corp. for over 40 years and also worked at JP Shelly & Sons, farmed and bush hogged. Mr. Cox was born May 26, 1928 in Hardeman County, son of the late Charles Wesley Cox and Cora Goth Cox and lived here all of his life. He loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals, woodworking and building swings and bird houses, fishing and yard work. Mr. Cox served in the U.S. Army at Panama Canal and Ft. Pickett, VA and was a member of Powell’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, whom he married April 23, 1949, survivors include one daughter, Pat Kirk; one sister, Corinne Tigner and one brother, Max Cox, all of Hornsby and several nieces and nephews.
