Mr. Cecil "Pete" Toms, age 79 of Rogers Springs, departed this life Tuesday morning, March 6, 2012 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Mr. Toms was born in Saulsbury, Tennessee July 13, 1932 to the late John Woodford and Dora Burnett Toms. He was united in marriage to his wife Rosie Kizer, who survives, October 16, 1954 and worked as a timber cutter for Cornelius Lumber. He also worked on tug boats for Exxon Oil Company for a period of time. Mr. Toms was Baptist in faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Rose Marie Toms and husband Larry Russell of Middleton; four sons, Robert Lee Toms, Sr. and wife Nettie of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, James Toms and wife Carolyn of Ramer, David Toms and wife Sheila of Middleton and Charles Toms and wife Mary of Trinity, TX; two sisters-in-law, Loretta Toms of Byhalia, MS, and Arlene Toms of Meridian, MS; a brother-in-law, Cleo Galloway of Saulsbury; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, ten stepgrandchildren and fifteen step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Bobby Royce Toms; a daughter, Virginia Ann Toms; three sisters, Nila Marie McAlpin, Blanch Russell-Galloway and an infant sister; three brothers, James W. Toms, Joe M. Toms, Billy G. Toms; a brother-in-law, J. C. Russell; and a sister-in-law, Alma Toms.
