Welchwas born in Wayne County, Tennessee on September 03, 1917 the daughter of the late William and Lillie Brewer Melson.She married Alva Harrison Welch who preceded her in death on February 21, 1978.Mrs. Welch departed this life on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at the age of 90 years, 2 months, 17 days.She is survived by 2 daughters: Elizabeth Ralston of Johnson City, Tennessee, Helen Bain of Savannah, Tennessee; 3 sons: Alva H. Welch, Jr. of Snow Hill, North Carolina, John Welch of Mendota, Illinois, Garry Welch of Savannah, Tennessee; 3 sisters: Sarah Franks of Clifton, Tennessee, Gladys Brown of Harvard, Illinois, Elizabeth Harville of Savannah, Tennessee; 4 brothers: John Melson and Frank Melson both of Harvard, Illinois, Herbert Melson of Mishawaka, Indiana, Austin Melson of Dalton, Georgia; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Charlie Melson and Robert Melson.
