Carrie Steely
was born in Waterloo, Alabama on October 9, 1918 the daughter of the late Emsley and Lula Estelle Fielder Scott.
On April 26, 1946 she was united in marriage to William Ovid Steely, who preceded her in death on January 1, 1985. Mrs. Steely was retired from her job as a nursing assistant at Hardin County Nursing Home. She was a member of the Walnut Grove Community and also a member of the Bumpus Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
She departed this life on September 2, 2006 at the McNairy Health Care Center in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 87 years, 10 months and 24 days.
Mrs. Steely is survived by a daughter, Bettye Steely Morris and her husband, Mike, of Selmer, Tennessee; 7 grandchildren: Randy, Lynn, Laquita, Chris, Carianna, Amanda and Joey; and 7 great-grandchildren: Blain, Breanna, Jacob, Brett, Hagan, Camden and Michael.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Lynn Steely; 5 brothers: Stanley, Leonard, Jess, Cecil and Vernon Scott and one sister, Thelma White.
