CAROLYN ELIZABETH BLALOCK CARY died July 17, 2006, in Morristown, Tennessee. She was born in Whiteville, Tennessee, on December 14, 1920. She was the daughter of Walter Gaston Blalock and Alice Elizabeth (Bettie) Higgs Blalock.
She married Lt. Col. Charles Muse Cary, Sr. on September 6, 1946. Col. Cary was assigned to the Strategic Air Command and was training to be one of the first B-47 pilots when he was killed on July 10, 1951.
She was the mother of two children: Charles Muse “Chip†Cary of Bolivar, Tennessee, and Carolyn Elizabeth “Carol†Cary Reams of Morristown, Tennessee. She has three grandchildren: Cary Elizabeth Reams Luhn and Lisa Carol Reams of Atlanta, Georgia and Chipper Cary of Bolivar.
She attended Blue Mountain College and graduated from Middle Tennessee State University. She taught at Rolling Fork High School, Virginia Intermont College, Whiteville High School and Bolivar Central High School and retired from teaching English after thirty years.
She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Beta Sigma Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Jackson Madison County Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution.
Services were 1 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2006 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar chapel. Burial was 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis.
