CARNELL RHODES TIGNOR
Henderson, TN: Elma Carnell Rhodes Tignor age 87, passed away Wednesday morning February 10, 2016 at her home.
She was born October 18, 1928 in the Middlefork community in Henderson County, the daughter of the late Carl Edwin and Bobbie Estes Crook Rhodes. She attended schools in Henderson County and in 1946 married Carl Anderson Tignor. They made their home in the Tignor Store Community of Chester County, where they owned and operated Tignor Store, farmed, and owned and operated Carl Tignor anhydrous ammonia fertilizer business. She served as bookkeeper for all their businesses. She was a member of the Unity Baptist Church.
She was a member of the the McCall's Home Demonstration Club and the Jackson Golden Circle Rose Society and had judged rose shows in the area. She had won many awards in area shows with her own roses.
She and Mr. Carl loved to travel having visited the Holy Land, various places in Europe, Hawaii and the North East.
Mrs. Tignor is survived by three daughters, Brenda Reddin and husband Jimmy, Shelia Frank and husband Norris all of Henderson and Kathy Belew and husband Ricky of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Michelle Reddin, Crystal Reddin Wilson, Amber Reddin Carter, Carla Frank Visser, Justin Donny Frank, Tanya Spiller and Summer Tippitt and eighteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl Tignor in 2014, a son, Donny Carl Tignor in 1977; two brothers, William Gordon Rhodes and Paul Edwin Rhodes and a sister, Leola Rhodes Rockwell.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Fred Ward and Justin Frank officiating. Burial will follow in Unity Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Friday.
