Carl R. Slaughter
was born on March 23, 1920 in Oak Grove, Louisiana the son of the late John William and Effie Mae Bundick Slaughter.
Mr. Slaughter was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He achieved the rank of Sergeant and served during World War II. In 1940, he received a Ph.D. in Psychology from UCLA. Mr. Slaughter worked as a brakeman for Southern Pacific Railways in Victoria Texas and retired as Personnel Director for Brown and Root, Inc.
Mr. Slaughter was a 32nd degree Mason and a Scottish Rite Mason. He attended Faith Assembly of God Church.
On August 6, 1983 he was united in marriage to the former Alice Abels, who survives.
He departed this life on July 12, 2006 at Hardin Medical Center in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 86 years, 3 months and 19 days.
Mr. Slaughter is survived by his wife, Alice Ables Slaughter of Savannah, Tennessee;
one son, Carl Robert Slaughter, Jr. of Houston, Texas;
4 daughters: Kim Thompson of Savannah, Tennessee,
Kay Geraci of League City, Texas, Kathy Herbeck of Texas City, Texas
and Karen Maxwell of Seabrook, Texas;
8 grandchildren: Kevin Thompson, Nick Thompson, Samantha Geraci, Christina Geraci,
Amanda Maxwell, Ryan Maxwell, Mindy Addison and Stephen Sperry;
and 3 great-grandchildren: Kierra Thompson, Tristan Thompson and Cayden Thompson.
In addition to his parents, William and Effie Slaughter, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers and one sister.
