C M Warren, Jr. was born May 3, 1928 in Collinwood, Tennessee. He passed from this life April 18, 2006 at the age of 77 years, 11 months, and 15 days. He was the only son of the late C M Warren and Grace Jeter Warren. C M lived most of his life in Wayne County, interrupted only by serving his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1952. He later joined the Tennessee National Guard where he served from 1957-1962. He was later discharged from the reserves as a captain.
He was a long time educator in Wayne County. For 31 years he was teacher, principal, Title I Director, and Superintendent. He worked in all the schools in the county in one capacity or another. He also taught for a short time in Texas after his discharge from the Air Force.
After his retirement from the school system, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier for 17 years in the Waynesboro Post Office.
He loved the Tennessee River and spent many happy hours fishing. His other great love was supporting his grandchildren in whatever sport they were participating in. He was a devoted member of the Wayne Furnace church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, June Risner Warren,
daughter, Lee Ann Staggs and her husband Jeff; son, Lynn Warren and his wife, Heather; and three precious grandchildren, Abbie and Eric Staggs and
Jaylee Warren all of Waynesboro.
