C. H. "Buddy" Taylor, age 86 of Pocahontas, passed from this life Friday afternoon, March 6, 2009 at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, Mississippi.
Born February 25, 1923 in Fayette County to Herschel and Annie Houston Taylor. He was raised by Jim McGee from an early age. He was raised in Fayette County during his youth but was a long-time resident of Pocahontas, Tennessee. He was a member of the Pocahontas Church of Christ. He was a retired business owner. He was also a county sheriff's deputy and truck driver. He served in the United States Army from April 1941 until January 1946. He was a Mason, Scottish Rite and Shriner and enjoyed fishing, playing cards and talking with his friends and family.
He leaves as survivors two daughters, Ann Baxter and husband Durward of Middleton and Sissy Wilbanks of Ashland, Mississippi; a son, Bob Taylor and wife Diane of Pocahontas; four sisters, Frances Garner of Iuka, Mississippi, Gloria White of Bartlett, Opal Hill of Rossville and Bonnie Burkeen of Frayser; five brothers, William Taylor of Arkansas, Leonard McGee of Shelby Forest, Jerry McGee of Millington, Jimmy McGee of Bartlett and Ricky McGee of Shelby Forest; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, four step-grandsons and six step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred O. Taylor, who passed in 1977; his second wife, Bernice Hendrix Taylor, a grandson; Johnny Hale Wilbanks; three sisters, Margie Miller, Martha Elbert and Shirley Irene Hart; and two brothers, James McGee and Vernon Taylor.
