Burma Umphrey

Burma Umphreywas born in Hardin County, Tennessee on November 12, 1916 the daughter of the late Thomas Andrew and Willie Mae Harris Ables.On December 24, 1933 she married Coley Nathaniel Umphrey, who preceded her in death on October 11, 1981.Mrs. Umphrey was a homemaker and a member of the New Harmony Baptist Church.Mrs. Umphrey departed this life on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at the age of 90 years, 11 months, 20 days.She is survived by her son: Danny Umphrey of Savannah, Tennessee; 4 daughters: Mae Belle McDonald of Enville, Tennessee, Ruby Nell McDonald, Barbara Ann Southern and Cathy Bridges all of Savannah, Tennessee; a sister: Bernice Dickey of Savannah, Tennessee; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas N. Umphrey, Jr. and her sister, Bonnie Beatrice Ables.
