Buford E. Patterson
May 14, 1921 — December 19, 2005
He was born and reared in the Finger Community of McNairy County, the son of the late Samuel McKinley and Lura Bullman Patterson. He entered the Army in 1942 and served in the Seventh Division in the South Pacific and was discharged in 1945. He was injured by small arms fire at Leate in the Philippines and was a Recipient of the Purple Heart. He was married to Gerture Griffin in 1946. They made their home in Henderson. He was a taxi driver in Henderson from 1946 until 1956 and a barber at Patterson Barber Shop from 1956 until 1994 when he retired due to poor health.
He is survive by his wife Mavis Gertrue Griffin Patterson of Henderson; a son James Buford Patterson of Bartlett and a grandson Michael Patterson of Johnson City.
