Buford E. (Bud) Knight was born on January 21, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the beloved son of the late Clyde and Frances McCarthy Knight. On March 1, 1958, Bud was united in marriage to his devoted wife, Nell Griswell, and together they created a beautiful life filled with love and laughter for over 66 years.
For 26 years, Mr. Knight was a dedicated employee at the Co-Op in Bolivar, Tennessee, where his work ethic and friendly demeanor earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. He was a member of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Bolivar, TN.
Bud had a passion for music that resonated throughout his life. He delighted in playing the guitar, organ, and harmonica, often filling the air with melodies that brought joy to those around him. Known for his sense of humor, he loved to tell jokes, pull lighthearted pranks, and engage in conversations with his neighbors and friends. His zest for life extended to outdoor adventures, as he found happiness in deer hunting and fishing.
On August 27, 2024, Mr. Knight departed this life in Bolivar, Tennessee, at the age of 86 years, 7 months, and 6 days. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nell Knight; his children, Brenda Dabbs and her husband Mitchell of Foley, Alabama, Matt Knight and his wife Dana of Bolivar, Tennessee, Peggy Turner of Bolivar, TN and Howard Knight of Bolivar, TN. He also leaves behind a brother, Larry Knight of Oregon, 12 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Knight was preceded in death by two daughters, Nancy Carol (Knight) Weeks, Melba (Knight) Allen; three sisters and one brother.
