Bruce Howell

Bruce Howell was born September 22, 1939 in Linden, TN the son of the late Clyde and Edna Lee Sanders Howell. Mr. Howell died Monday, February 15, 2016 at Life Care Center in Old Hickory, Tennessee at the age of 76 Years, 4 Months, 24 Days. He was married to Vivian Culp August 27, 1960. She preceded him in death November 28, 2013. At a young age Mr. Howell enlisted in the military. He served his country in the U.S. Army serving from 1963-1965. Upon his discharge, he worked for 14 years at Reynolds Aluminum in Florence, AL. For most of his working career he was involved in the pizza business from management and eventually becoming owner. Bruce had also served in city government, serving on the city commission for 8 years 2 of which were served as mayor. He was a charter member of Riverside Methodist Church.

He is survived by a son, Darrell Howell and wife Belinda of Old Hickory, TN, two grandchildren, Alayna and Parker Howell, sister, Pat Skelton and husband Carl of Waynesboro, TN, and sister in law, Ima Nell Howell of Loretto, TN, and a brother in law, Siron Culp and wife Carol of Clifton, TN, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Howell was preceded in death by a brother, William Clarence Howell.

Services will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Riverside United Methodist Church in Clifton, Tennessee, with Kevin Marston and Mitchell L. Skelton officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Methodist Church Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 PM and Thursday from 9:00 AM until service time at Riverside Methodist Church. Pallbearers are Jeff Skelton, Ralph Statom, Jim Byrd, Jodi Lay, David Brewer, and William Culp. Family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to The Butterfly Foundation, First United Methodist Church, or charity of your choice.
