Brent Harris (Lurch) Ferguson was born January 22, 1978 in Jackson, TN the son of Lucretia Cornelius Ferguson and the late Glenn D. Ferguson. As a child in Vacation Bible School, Brent recognized his need for a Savior and he was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Selmer.
Brent was taught to care for the things God created-the land, animals, and the knowledge instilled by parents and grandparents encouraged a love of nature.
The sun rose and set in being outdoors, as he loved tractors and any kind of heavy machinery, farming, gardening and traveling. Although winter was not his favorite season, he always looked forward to working and his hands were seldom lacking for something to do. His work ethic served him well as he could take apart and put back together anything he set his mind on.
His love for nature could be seen in the varieties of tomatoes and other vegetables he grew. He loved to be the first to notify family members when the first hummingbirds arrived in spring.
In recent years, he found and married his wife, and as an added bonus, became Brent-Pop to two sweet grandchildren. As an older adult, he learned to take in, capture and treasure those times, and he was grateful for the fullness of life in recent years by spending time with his son, brother, and extended dear family.
Brent had many talents and was blessed with being tender hearted, compassionate and loving. He loved fiercely. He came into the world, made a lasting imprint on our hearts, then left too early for us, as he will surely be missed and remembered always.
Mr. Ferguson departed this life on January 18, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 46 Years, 11 Months, 27 Days.
He was united in marriage to Kristin Evans on July 16, 2020, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Cole Waller of Selmer, TN; two stepsons, Cody Mayo and wife Shelby of Bradford, TN, Logan Mayo and wife Nicole of Jackson, TN; two grandchildren, Thomas Wayne Mayo, Auburn Grace Mayo; mother, Lucretia Ferguson of Selmer, TN; a brother, Brian Ferguson and wife Keli of Selmer, TN; two nephews and a niece, Kooper Jones, Sadie Ferguson, Ridge Ferguson; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his father, Glenn D. Ferguson, Brent was preceded in death by his grandparents; D.D. and Glenda Ferguson, Melton and Forbis Cornelius.
