Diann Carson

Brenda “Diann” Friend-Veal Carson, 73, formerly of Henderson, TN, went to her eternal home on Thursday, June 15, 2023.

Diann was born October 7, 1949, in Jonesboro, AR to the late John Earl Friend and Ruby Beatrice Thompson. She met the love of her life, Roger Carson, at age 17, and they were married on October 7, 1967. They made their home in Jonesboro before moving to Jacks Creek, TN in 1972. 

Diann was a seamstress and homemaker before beginning her career at Goldsmith’s Department Store until she transitioned her career to Chester County Bank from which she retired in 2018.

She was a member of Christ Community Church in Henderson, TN.

In addition to her biological parents, Diann was preceded in death by adoptive parents, James and Imogene Veal; her husband, Roger Carson; a son, James Carson; brothers, John Edward Friend, Ruben Earl Friend, and David Allen Friend; and a sister, Erma Louise Howard.

She is survived by her children, Michelle Nicholson (Jamen) of Central, SC, Ladeana Cochrane (Bob) of Denver, NC, Daniel Carson (Jamie) of Sweetlips, TN, Talitha Narney (Robyn) of Statesville, NC, and Laurinda Burden of Newton, NC; daughter-in-law, Jodi Carson of Finger, TN; sisters, Wanda Campbell (Joe) of Wabash, IN, Martessia Morphis of Trumann, AR, and Becky Perkins (Joe) of Jonesboro, AR.

She leaves a legacy of love to her 20 grandchildren: Christopher Brown, Amanda Smith (Glenn), Ryan Carson (Samantha), Stuart Nicholson, Justin Nicholson, Robbie Cochrane, Derek Francois (Emily), Mariah Francois, Blake Francois (Jessica), Brittany Guinn (Matt), Hannah Carter (Riley), Kristin Carson (Cody), Lee Rayburn, Ilyana Carson, Courtney Smith (Hayden), Brooklyn Pulley (Tristan), Kloey Creasy, Xander Burden, Blaze Burden, and Ryker Burden; and 17 great- grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, June 23, 2023, 5pm-8pm and Saturday, June 24, 2023, 11am-2pm, followed by her celebration of life service (2pm)  at Shackleford Funeral Home 304 Crook Ave Henderson, Tn. Final resting place will be Jacks Creek Apostolic Church Cemetery, 150 McAdams Loop, Jacks Creek, TN.

The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider donating to the American Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers.
