Funeral services for Boyd Franklin Matney, age 90, of Waynesboro, TN will be Two p.m. Sunday, December 31, 2006 at Shackelford Chapel in Waynesboro with Steven Turnbow officiating. Interment following in Mt. Hope Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 30, 2006 from 5:00-9:00 pm and Sunday from 10:00 am until service time at Shackelford Funeral Home in Waynesboro.
Mr. Matney died Friday, December 29, 2006 at NHC Scott in Lawrenceburg. He was born in Wayne County, a son of the late John Wiley Matney, Jr. and Finnie Linnie Morgan Matney. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Mae Jackson Matney; sons, Joseph Leemon Matney and James Franklin Matney; brothers, Taylor and Anderson Matney; and a sister, Mary Lee Kohl.
Mr. Matney was raised on Town Branch and Simmons Branch and resided on Forty-eight Creek in Wayne County. He enjoyed gospel singing and touched many lives with his singing at churches in the community. He was retired from Murray Ohio and a farmer. Mr. Matney was a member of Forty-eight Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by daughters, Alice Bell Greer and Dollie Mae Swinea both of Waynesboro, Bobbie Jean Linderman of Forrest City, Arkansas, Ruth Evelyn Brewer of Lawrenceburg, and a son, John Daniel Matney of Ethridge.
