Bobby Gene Wood was born on August 28, 1930 in Hardin County, Tennessee, the son of the late William Mancil and Louise Wood.
Bobby grew up in the Counce/Southside School community where his family was in the sawmill business. He went on to work in the logging business and built most of his own equipment. He was an excellent carpenter and woodworker, building several homes in the community, including his own.
