Mr. Russell passed away Wednesday at Camden Hospital.
The husband of Karen Mays Russell, who survives, he was a recreational therapist at Western Mental Health Institute for almost 40 years and night manager at Maxwell’s Grocery for two years. He was born August 24, 1951 in Ripley, MS to the late Roy Reece Russell and Sarah Jean Rogers Russell and moved to Bolivar in 1966. He moved to Selmer in 2000 and attended First Christian Church there. His hobbies included fishing and golfing.
In addition to his wife, whom he married May 11, 2000, survivors include a daughter Mary Claire Vogler of Columbia, SC; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Julie Harper and James of Byhalia, MS and Sally Dollar and Chris of Birmingham, AL; a son and his wife, Bobby Russell and Cathy of Union City; a stepson, Ryan Smitherman of Memphis; two brothers whom he loved, and their wives, Ronnie Russell and Liz of Jackson and Wayne Russell and Judy of Bartlett; six grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth, Andrew, Hannah Victoria, John Andrew, Luke, and Anna; two nieces, Adrian Crosby and Laura Russell; and two nephews, Rusty and Dustin Russell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a wife, Vicki H. Russell, MD, who died January 4, 1997.
