Bobby Gene Smith

Bobby Gene Smith was born November 12, 1941 in McNairy County, TN the son of the late Oles Smith and Lola Bea Coln Smith. He departed this life on December 10, 2023 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 82 Years, 28 Days.

He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Ann Dillon on April 17, 1971. Mrs. Smith preceded him in death on March 6, 2023. 

A day at the lake was a day well-spent for him. Bobby also had a deep love for sports. From cheering on the Vols to supporting the Memphis Grizzlies and following Nascar races. Kids also held a special place in his heart. 

Above all, family held an irreplaceable position in Bobby's heart. The love he felt for his whole family was immeasurable and unwavering.

He is survived by two daughters, Tammy Purtteman and husband Mark of Selmer, TN, Cindy Sweazey and partner Cody Morris of Selmer, TN; three grandchildren: Brooke Purtteman and boyfriend Travis Glasner of Nashville, TN, Katie Sweazey of Ramer, TN, Eric Purtteman and wife Brittany of Selmer, TN; six great grandchildren:  Jada Morris, McKenzie Crum, Brynlee Purtteman, Drake Purtteman, Ryker Purtteman, Matthew Ray; four sisters: Mary Frances Whitaker and husband Delane of Corinth, MS, Peggy Inman of Guys, TN, Wanda Seago of Kossuth, MS, Diane Mathis of Corinth, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by three brothers-in-law: Jerry Inman, Danny Seago, and Tommy Mathis.
