Mr. Bobby Bynum, age 72 of Saulsbury, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday afternoon, September 6, 2016 at Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital.
Mr. Bynum was born Tuesday, December 7, 1943 in Canaan, Mississippi to Wilma Rae Russum Bynum, who survives, and the late William Earl Bynum. On Monday, March 16, 1964, he was united in marriage to Grace Redfearn Bynum, who survives.
He graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1962 and served in the Tennessee National Guard. In his early years, worked for Tastee Bakery, and he eventually retired as a Captain for the Memphis Fire Department after 30 years of service.
Mr. Bynum lived most of his life in Saulsbury and was very involved in the community. He was chief and a founding member of the Saulsbury Volunteer Fire Department, served on the Saulsbury City Council, was former Vice Mayor of Saulsbury, was a Hardeman County Sheriff's Department Deputy for over 30 years, and also worked with the Grand Junction and Middleton Police Departments. He was a Deacon at Saulsbury Baptist Church, where he served as an overseer of the building and grounds.
In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include his sons, Stephen Bynum of Saulsbury, and Tony Bynum of Saulsbury; sister, Cora Campbell and husband Gene of Saulsbury; brother, Billy Bynum of Saulsbury; and grandchildren, Kyle Bynum, Aden Bynum, and Clay Bynum.
He was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Mary Louise Bynum; and two brothers, George Bynum and Mike Bynum.
