 Henderson, TN: Bobby Randall Bush, age 94, passed away Wednesday morning August 14, 2024, at his home.

He was born July 11, 1930, in Corinth, MS., the son of the late William Hurley and Grace Wardlow Bush. He graduated from Corinth High School in 1949. He attended Northeast Mississippi Junior College at Booneville, MS. He was in the National Guard for three years and on active duty from January 1951 until August 1952. He returned to Northeast Mississippi Junior College. On November 7, 1952, he married Betty Richter. While employed at the Mississippi Employment Service, he continued taking classes at Mississippi State and received his B.S., and later while working in Human Resources in industries in Starkville, he received his Masters and Doctorate at Mississippi State University. 

He was a Charter member of the Corinth Civitan and had served as an officer. He coached the Civitan Little League team and was PTA officer. He preached by appointment all his adult life without a college degree in ministry.

They moved to Henderson in 1976 to teach at Freed-Hardeman University in the Business Department for twenty-five years, teaching human resources, business management, time management, and other courses. He retired in 2001. During this time, he also taught courses for the University of Memphis at its Jackson Campus. 

He and Mrs. Bush did missionary work in Belize, Bahamas, Europe, Bermuda, Guyana, Canada, and Brazil, assisting in starting churches in many of these places and did mission work in many of the fifty states. They had made over a dozen trips to the Hawaiian Islands to preach for congregations that did not have a preacher. 

He taught one summer at International University in Vienna, Austria. 

He loved to help others and enjoyed traveling and working as a volunteer with the Sojourners at churches, camps, children’s homes, and Christian schools. 

He was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ, where he had served as a deacon and was on the missionary committee. He served as a deacon at the Foote Street congregation in Corinth before moving to Henderson.

Mr. Bush is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Richter Bush of Henderson; a son, Kenneth ‘Kenny’ Randall Bush (Cathy) of Columbus, MS and a daughter, Jennifer Ann Fetters (Robert) of Bay Minette, AL; six grandchildren, Chip Fetters, Chris Fetters, Chad Fetters, Curt Fetters, Katie Bush Gaughf and David Bush and nine great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda Bush Hopkins.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Kenny Bush officiating and Billy Smith and Milton Sewell assisting. 

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday, August 16, 2024, and there will be visitation also on Saturday morning prior to the funeral.
