BOB WILLIAMS
Medon, TN: Robert Horace Williams age 78 passed away April 27, 2013 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born in South Fulton, TN the son of the late Lennis and Mary Wallace Williams. He went to school in Jackson and entered the U.S. Navy in 1952 and served on a destroyer off the Coast of Japan during the Korean conflict. He married Dorothy Sue Snider in 1953. After he returned from the service they made their home in Memphis where he worked with ADT Security Systems for forty two years. After his retirement they moved to North Jackson. They had made their home near Richard and Barbara in Chester County for the past six months.
He played adult softball for many years having played on the North Jackson Church team and then played in the Jackson Senior League.
While living in Memphis he served as an Elder at the Gragg Avenue Church of Christ and while in Jackson was active in the benevolence program at the North Jackson Church of Christ where he was a member.
At the age of sixty six he entered Freed-Hardeman University and in 2008 he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Bible.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Dorothy Sue Snider Williams of Medon; two daughters, Barbara England and husband Richard of Medon and Judy Byrd and husband Jim of Huntsville, AL; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and a brother, Jimmy Williams of Nevada.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry David Williams (infant 1954); a grandchild, Aaron Vanbuskirk; a brother, Boyd Edward Williams and two sisters, Lynteen Todd and Geraldine Clayton.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with David Powell officiating and burial will follow in Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Sunday.
