Billy Preston Peden, Sr. was born on February 3, 1941 in Turrell, Arkansas, the son of the late Robert Gillium and Bertha Jeanette Steadham Peden Johnson.
On December 24, 1967, he was united in marriage to Marla Bachkora, who survives.
Billy owned and operated Speden's Towing & Recovery and 21st Century Automotive, both in West Memphis, Arkansas. He was a member of Gideon International and Hopewell Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee. He graduated from Evangelism Explosion. Billy confessed his sins and received Jesus as his savior on November 2, 1974.
Billy Preston Peden, Sr. departed this life on August 20, 2023 in Counce, Tennessee at the age of 82 years, 6 months, and 17 days.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marla Peden of Counce, Tennessee; sons, Alan Peden and his wife Tammy of Marion, Arkansas and Billy Peden, Jr. and his wife Tanya; daughter, Meshelle Nabors and her husband Damon of Counce, Tennessee; sister, Louise Ivy of West Memphis, Arkansas; grandchildren, Damon Nabors, Jr., Corey Peden, Cameron Peden, Wesley Nabors, Bailey Peden, Brooke Nabors, and Ashlee Peden; and great grandchild, Zane Nabors.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Wilmot; brothers, A. D. Peden, Sr. and Jack Peden, Sr.; and grandchild, Clayton Peden.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gideon International.
