Billy Lee McLain was born in Hardin County, Tennesee, the son of the late Daulton and Velma Reese Gray McLain. On November 9, 1961, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Henson, who survives. Mr. McLain departed this life on June 18, 2018, at the age of 78 years, 7 months, and 30 days.
Mr. McLain served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1960 and was a member of First Baptist Church in Adamsville, Tennessee. In his lifetime, he worked in various southern states before retiring from Levi Strauss Company. He then moved back to his hometown of Adamsville, Tennessee. Mr. McLain loved classic cars, woodworking, geneology, gardening, karaoke, traveling with the senior citizens in Adamsville, Tennessee, and playing dominoes. He enjoyed spending time with his family, spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and riding them around on his "toys."
In addition to his wife, Mary, of 56 years, he is survived by his daughters, Shelia A. Vasquez and husband Ernie of Springfield, Virginia and Sherri L. Hughes and husband Robert of Brighton, Colorado; sons, Bill D. McLain and wife Wendy of Adamsville, Tennessee and Darin K. McLain of Crump, Tennessee; sister, Ida Lou Williams of Lawton, Tennessee; grandchildren, April Vannoy and husband Chris, Ashlee Thomas, Kiana Hughes, Ethan Vasquez, Cullen Vasquez, Dalton McLain, and Tyler McLain; and great granchildren, Celeste, Aniston, and Joseph Vannoy.
Along with his parents, Mr. McLain was preceded in death by his siblings, George McLain, Jean Boswell, Martha Roland, Peggy Curlin, and one infant sister.
