Billy J. Bryson, 95, of Pocahontas, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023, at Hardin County Medical Center in Savannah.

He was born Saturday, June 11, 1927, in Shelbyville, IL, son of the late Lawrence William Bryson and Bessie Jane King Bryson, moving to this area 22 years ago. He had previously lived in Illinois, Arizona and Iowa. He was a former truck driver for John Deere and former auxiliary sheriff's deputy with the Sheriff's department in Shelbyville, Illinois. He retired as a construction worker for the Army Corps of Engineers. He married Kennedene Price on November 12, 1950, who survives. Mr. Bryson served in the US Army during the end of World War II and also during the Korean Conflict, being honorably discharged in March of 1953. He was a member of Oak Grove Methodist Church in Pocahontas.

Survivors include his wife, Kennedene Price Bryson of Pocahontas; four daughters, Suzanne Davis(Jerry), Kennelee Lee(Bengt), Kathy Rankins (Billy McCormick) and Carrie Burchette; two sons, Billy Joe Bryson (Lisa) and Christopher Bryson; 19 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 1 brother. Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate)
