Billy Floyd Hinton, 78 of Iron City, TN, passed away on January 29, 2025, at his home in Cypress Inn, Tennessee, after a brief battle with cancer.
He was united in marriage to his loving wife, Shirley White Hinton on December 31, 1988.
For an impressive 40 years, Billy devoted his career to TVA and was a member of the TVA Union #366. A proud United States Army Veteran, he served honorably during the Vietnam War, embodying the values of service and sacrifice throughout his life.
Billy loved to go fishing and hunting with the guys and his stepson Doug and was also a member of the hunting club at Lutts. Billy was known for his love of gardening, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, but his heart truly belonged to the Alabama Crimson Tide football, ROLL TIDE.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Shirley White Hinton, sons Brad Hinton (Chasity), and Douglas Robbins (Theresa) daughter Christy Hinton Mooney, sisters, Evelyn Reatherford, Glenda Kelley, and Diane Rumph, grandchildren Blake Marona, Cody Robbins, Tori Hanback, Sam Hanback, Lexie Hinton, and Karley Hinton, and a great-granddaughter, Emmie Kay Robbins
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Misty Kay Robbins; his stepdaughter, Donna Hanback; his brothers, Jean and Jackie Hinton; and his brother-in-law, Jerry Reatherford and his faithful dog Spot.
Visitation will be held on February 2, 2025, from 5 PM to 8 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN. A graveside service will take place the following day on February 3, 2025, at 1 PM at Railroad Cemetery in Iron City, TN.
