Billy Gene Crawfordwas born in Odessa, Texas on November 27, 1927 the son of the late Billy Gene and Perrie Blodsoe Crawford.Mr. Crawford served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1941 to 1945. He served as a radio officer in the Merchant Marines and was in oceangoing service during armed conflict. He retired in 1973 and received an honorable discharge. On February 13, 1973 he was united in marriage to the former Jean Thomison DeLaney, who survives. Mr. Crawford was of Baptist faith and a member of the American Radio Association.He departed this life on May 11, 2007 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 14 days.Mr. Crawford is survived by his wife, Jean Thomison DeLaney Crawford of Savannah, Tennessee; three children: Billy Gene Crawford, Jr., Philip DeLaney and Pat DeLaney Gray;four grandchildren: Chasity Timberman, Brittni Gray, Philip DeLaney, Jr. and Cynthia Gorman; and three great-grandchildren: DeLaney Timberman, Austin DeLaney and Tanner DeLaney.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford and Herman Crawford.
