Mr. Billy Gene Cox, age 78 of Bolivar, Tennessee, passed away Monday morning, April 11, 2016 at his home.
A lifelong resident of Hardeman County, Mr. Cox was born Saturday, July 24, 1937 to the late Eugene and Thelma Lee Johnson Cox. He graduated from Bolivar Central High School with the Class of 1955 and served in the Tennessee Army National Guard during the late 1950s and early 1960s. He was a wrecker driver and farmer, and had also retired from Maytag. A man of few words, Mr. Cox enjoyed drag racing and antiques, and he loved his dog, Spike.
Survivors include his sons, Chris Cox and wife Diana of Bolivar, and David Todd Cox of Covington; grandchildren, Jennifer Townsend, Jeremy Hunt and Savannah Moore; great-grandchildren, Joshua Townsend, Julie Townsend, Ally Townsend, and Noah Townsend; and caretaker, Kevin Stafford.
