Billy Jack Cole

Billy Jack Cole was born October 9, 1927 in Wayne County, TN, the son of the late Fred and Marietta Alley Cole. He was united in marriage to Hazel Jean Shaw on February 12, 1949 and she preceded him in death on November 13, 2018.

Mr. Cole was retired from Genesco and later worked as a custodian at the Wayne County courthouse and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, Tennessee. He served during the Korean War in the United States Army.

Mr. Cole departed this life, Friday, January 4, 2019 in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 91 Years, 2 Months, 26 Days.

He is survived by a son, Timothy Shaw Cole and wife, Jennifer of Mount Juliet, TN; grandchildren, Brady, Peyton and Grayson Cole; a sister, Marietta (Cole) Daniel of Toledo, OH; nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Cole was preceded in death by a son, Rickie Cole; brothers, Eugene (Dunkin), James, Robert and Claude Cole and sisters, Nell Wilson and Pauline Lay.

Services will be Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Chris Blalock officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in the Philadelphia Cemetery, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County directing. Pallbearers will be Brady Cole, Peyton Cole, Grayson Cole, Chris Bevis, Derrick Bevis, Steve Shaw, Ken Shaw and Terry Davis.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be given to the First United Methodist Church, PO Box 464, Waynesboro, TN 38485.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 5:30 pm to 8 pm and Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 12 pm to 1:30 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors, Waynesboro, TN.
