Billy Joel Bryant was born February 22, 1930 in Waynesboro, TN the son of the late Cype and Annie Horton Bryant. He was united in marriage to Iva Dean Simmons on March 14, 1953. Billy honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He then retired from Reynolds Aluminum in Sheffield, AL where he was a laborer and was also a member of the Fairview Church of Christ in Iron City, TN. In his spare time, Billy enjoyed taking care of his cattle, farming, and doing carpentry work. Billy departed this life on March 18, 2023 in Iron City, TN at his home at the age of 93 years and 24 days.
He is survived by his wife Iva Dean Simmons Bryant of Iron City, TN; sons, Ricky Bryant (Donna), Robert Bryant (Cindy), and Andy Bryant ( Angie), all of Collinwood, TN; grandchildren, Josh (Felecia), Jacob (RoiAnn), Jeremy (Christy), Jace (Jennifer), Justin (Amanda), Robyn (Dexter), Derrick, and Deedra (Derek); and great-grandchildren, Sydney, Ansley, Lauren, Emma, Kace, Jacey, Ty, Dallas, Jameson, Finnegan, Abigale, Josiah, Ranna, Everly, Makenna, Emerson, and Berklee.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe Bryant and Barney Bryant.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 11:00 am at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN, with James Paul and Jace Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens at Collinwood, TN with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Butterfly Foundation in his name.
