Billy T. Armstrong was born June 17, 1928 in McNairy County, Tennessee the son of the late Lexis and Nannie Mae Jobe Armstrong.He was united in marriage to Nell Dixon on May 7, 1950.Mr. Armstrong was a graduate of Union University, and received his Masters Degree from Memphis State University. He was a teacher for 42 years and a basketball coach for 28 years at Farmington, Ramer, and Selmer. Mr. Armstrong was an ordained Deacon at Gravel Hill Baptist Church, and was a former Director for Pickwick Electric Cooperative, where he served as treasurer and president. He was also a former president of the McNairy County Retired Teachers Association, a charter member and a founder of the Ramer Ruritan Club, and a 32nd Degree Mason. Mr. Armstrong departed this life on May 5, 2009 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 80 Years, 10 Months, 18 Days. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nell (Dixon) Armstrong of Ramer, TN; a daughter, Gail Day and husband Danny of Selmer, TN; two grandchildren: Adam Day and wife Meg of Ramer, TN and Alicia Day of Ramer, TN; three great grandchildren: Lynleigh Day, Addison Day, and Russell Day; and a host of extended family and friends.
