Bill Roberson

Billy “Big Bill” Roberson, age 78, of Iron City, TN, died Monday, December 18, 2006 at ECM Hospital after an extended illness. Services will be Thursday, December 21, 2006 at 3 pm at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel, Collinwood, with Emerald Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Railroad Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Daniel, Curtis Daniel, John Daniel, Landon Daniel, Jason Herrmann, and Michael Thompson. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 20, from 6 pm to 9 pm and Thursday, December 21, from 9 am to service time at the funeral home. Bill was born May 12, 1928 to the late Henry and Viola Linville Roberson. He attended Fairview School and joined the U. S. Navy at age 17. He was employed at TVA and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 320. Bill loved the outdoors, where he enjoyed many hobbies such as fishing, hunting, tending to his cattle, and riding his 4-wheeler. He loved a good joke and always enjoyed a laugh with his family and friends. He loved living life and was a man of few complaints. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, and a half-sister, Lizzie Stults, and a grandson, Jay Daniel. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Lucy Moomaw Roberson, two daughters, Brenda (Kenneth) Daniel and Kathy (Curtis) Daniel all of Iron City, TN, grandchildren, Shana Daniel, Iron City, TN, Jana (Jason) Herrmann, Mobile, AL, Landon (Crystal) Daniel, Killen, AL, John Daniel, Iron City, TN, brothers, Walter (the late Nell) Roberson, Waylon (Marjorie) Roberson, Glen (Jo) Roberson, all of Iron City, TN, several nieces and nephews.
