BILL PHILLIPS

 Henderson, TN: Billy Joe Phillips, age 83, passed away October 21, 2024, at his home.

He was born in Chester County July 1, 1941, son of the late Joe Lee and Cora Celeste Wilson Phillips. He grew up in Phillips Community of Chester County and was a 1959 graduate of Chester County High School.

After high school, he entered the US Air Force and served 4 years while he was stationed in Salina, KS. He met and married Dominga Torres and they were together for 62 years until her death in September 2022.

He retired from BellSouth Communications in 2001 after 38 years.

He was a Freemason both in Kansas and Tennessee and was a member of the Lodge 485 in Chester County.

Bill was a farmer, woodworking craftsman, and a friend to many people in the area.

He is survived by a son, Arthur Martinez of Salina, KS; two daughters, Esther Mahavier (Russell) and Celeste Arredondo (Urban) both of Austin, TX; brother, John Phillips of Toone, TN; sister, Patsy Tobias of Pflugerville, TX; six grandchildren, Amber and Jerry Morales, Matthew Mahavier, Olivia Arredondo, and Evan and Jake Martinez; and special friend, Jovita “Jo” Morgan of Malesus.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents; four sons, Paul and Silver Martinez, and Ruben and Robin Morales.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday October 26, 2024, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with burial and Masonic Rites at Cave Springs Cemetery. The family will gather for a consolation meal following the burial at the Masseyville Fire Department and will visit with guest in attendance there as well.

The family will receive friends at East Main on Saturday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM service time.
