Beverly Ann Hurst McDuff, 61, of Cordova, TN went home to be with her Lord and Savior August 2, 2009 after a long hard fought battle with ovarian cancer.
Beverly was born July 12, 1948 in Memphis, TN. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Mitchell P. Hurst and Willie Juanita (Hooper) Hurst. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jim McDuff, a pilot for NWA. She leaves behind her devoted sister & brother-in-law, Pamela and Larry Stanford and nephew, Greg of Memphis, TN. She also leaves behind her special aunts, uncles, cousins and loyal friends and church family, all of whose loving support and prayers have sustained her during her illness. She was a member of Riveroaks Reformed Presbyterian Church of Germantown, TN. Special thanks, appreciation and love go out to her long-time friend, Mike Aziz of Dallas, TX. She also leaves behind her beloved little poodle, Ginger, who was her constant companion for 17 years.
She graduated from White Station High School in 1966. She attended Memphis State University before becoming a flight attendant for Southern Airways in 1970. She retired from Northwest Airlines in 2005 and was diagnosed with cancer soon after. She enjoyed volunteer work and was a ward hostess and recreation hostess at the Veterans’ Hospital during the Vietnam Conflict. More recently she had been a sidewalk counselor for women in crisis pregnancies. She had also volunteered at Baptist Rehabilitation Center.
Her life scripture was Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him & He will direct your path.â€
