Mrs. Beulah Inez Taylor, formerly of Medon, went to be with The Lord on Thursday, Nov. 20. She was 92 years old.
Beulah passed away at Mountain Brook Village in Sevierville, Tenn., where she had lived for the past 16 months. Before that, she had lived most of her life in rural Hardeman County.
Beulah was born in 1922 in Madison County to Liddie Elizabeth and Virgle Elder. At the age of 14, she married her sweetheart, Luther Taylor, and they were married for 73 years until his death on Nov. 23, 2009.
During their lifetimes, they survived the Great Depression, World War II, and many hardships.
The couple, affectionately known as Granny and Pop by their grandchildren and many others, built their home on Big Springs Road where they raised their family.
She is survived by two daughters, Dolores Courage of North Little Rock, Ark., and Mary Maness Cook of Sevierville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Tracy Courage and husband Peter Fleck of North Little Rock; Amanda Sweat and husband Rob of Sevierville; and Josh Maness and wife Deanna of San Diego. She has five great-grandchildren: Emma, Madison, Rocco, Taylor, and Vivian.
She also has three surviving sisters: Ano Wilson and Mary Jo Moss of Bolivar, and Mae Bell Minton of Flint, Mich. She had 15 brothers and sisters who preceded her in death.
Beulah loved her family and looked forward to days when her family was together. One of the many ways she showed her love for her family and friends was by cooking for them. She delighted in sharing home-grown vegetables with friends, cooking pies for church potlucks, and she always tried to make everyone’s favorite dishes when she knew they would be visiting.
Beulah loved Big Springs Church where she had attended for more than 50 years. She played the piano at church, and she loved gospel music. More than anything, she loved God. She prayed often and shared her Christian beliefs with everyone she knew. She was certain of her faith, and she looked forward to an eternal life with Christ. She has at last gone home.
