Beulah H. Burse, 94, of Saulsbury, died Monday, January 16, 2006 at Quince Nursing & Rehabilitation in Memphis.
The widow of Frank Burse, who died December 31, 1995, she was a homemaker and had worked as a caregiver. Mrs. Burse was born September 16, 1911 in Friendship, Tenn., daughter of the late Charley and Lulah Daniel Hollingsworth.
Mrs. Burse attended Friendship School and graduated from the 8th grade. She worked at a laundry for several years where she pressed shirts and at Parkview Hospital in Dyersburg as an “Aid†which is now known as a CNA. She was a very independent woman and was known as a hard worker. She grew up working in the fields hoeing and chopping cotton and they say no one could keep up with her.
Beulah married C.A. Turner on February 10, 1926 and they had four children, Aubrey Turner, Margaret Woosley, Jean Pulliam and Jerry Turner. She lived in Dyersburg for 50 years and married Frank Burse on August 8, 1972. They lived in Bolivar before making their home in Saulsbury in the 80’s. Beulah said that Frank was the love of her life and always talked about how good he was to her. They used to mow lawns for extra income. She said that her husband and children were waiting for her in Heaven and she was ready to see them when the Lord called her home.
Services were 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at Shackelford Funeral Directors Bolivar chapel with David Cooper officiating. Burial was in West Memorial Cemetery near Saulsbury.
Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Woosley of Louisville, KY; one son, Jerry Turner of Millington; 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 18 great, great grandchildren who called her “Othermotherâ€. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jean Pulliam; one son, Aubrey Turner and two brothers, Sonny and Tom Hollingsworth.
