Bettye D. Kirk

Bettye D. Kirk, age 70 of Hornsby, passed from this life Saturday, March 7, 2009 at her home.She was born October 10, 1938 in Hardeman County to the late Joe Vernon and Virginia Lois McCalip Pierce. She had worked at Western Mental Health Institute for 15 years and for the State of Tennessee as a parole officer for 20 years, retiring in 2002. She was also an Avon representative for 35 years. She was a member of the Hardeman County Arts Council and loved to travel. She was a member of the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.She is survived by two daughters, Connie Bettie and husband Robert of Jackson, and Laura "Tiffany" Akins; a son, Michael Kirk and wife Rhonda of Martin; a brother, Kelsie Louis Pierce of Middleton; two grandchildren, Sierra Kirk and Auryahnna Martin; and her longtime companion, Doug Hurst.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Howell.
