Betty Jean Hughes

Betty Jean Skelton Hughes of Waynesboro, TN was born August 15, 1932 in Lewis County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Lee Roy and Lettie Lee Henley Skelton.



Mrs. Hughes passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 78 Years, 2 Months, 6 Days.



Mrs. Hughes was a retired school teacher and homemaker and was a member of the Waynesboro Church of Christ in Waynesboro, Tennessee.



She is survived by her husband, Ralph (Sonny) Hughes Jr.; son, Robert Roy (Bob)Haggard, III and wife, Kim; daughter, Ann Haggard Bevis and husband, Rex, sons, Roy Haggard Hughes and wife, Jennifer and Ralph M. Hughes, III all of Waynesboro, TN; grandchildren, Sarah Suzanne Bevis, Anna Beth Haggard, Wendy Bevis Daniel and husband, Ben, Amanda Nell Bevis, Tara Hollis and husband, Jerry and Gavin Haggard Hughes; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Ryan Daniel, Presley Autumn Daniel , Alex Hollis and Elly Hollis.



In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by a brother, James Howard Skelton.



Services will be Sunday, October 24, 2010 at 3 pm at Waynesboro Church of Christ with Bobby Pinckley, Matthew Morine, and Mitchell Skelton officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens, Waynesboro, TN with Shackelford Funeral Directors directing. Pallbearers will be David Canterbury, Steve Collie Cary Crews, Buddy Dixon, Jerry Duren, Larry Haggard, Carl Skelton, Mike Gallian.



Visitation will be Saturday, October 23, 2010 from 5 pm to 9 pm at Shackelford Funeral Home, Waynesboro, TN and Sunday, October 24, 2010 from 1 pm to 3 pm at Waynesboro Church of Christ.
